You can now see at first hand how steel-framed building modules are manufactured and fitted out before they leave the Yorkon modular building production centre in York.

This building is for a £10m subcontract awarded to Yorkon by Kier Eastern for the off-site construction of a new hospital building at Colchester General Hospital.

The £20m ProCure21 project is the biggest development in the hospital's recent history and will increase the Trust's capacity in time for the peak winter period. It will accommodate a new paediatric department on the ground floor and an elective care centre and surgical ward on the upper floor.

Kier is Principal Supply Chain Partner appointed by the Trust under the ProCure21 framework to provide the new facility. Yorkon manufactured and fitted out the building off site in York and installed it in two phases to allow an existing ward facility on the site to remain in use for longer.
