Video showing the process of hot coating the deck of a surfboard. Hot coating is the same as the sand coat or fill coating. This technique can be used with epoxy or polyester resins. Make sure when using polyester resins that surface agent (wax) has been added to the resin. For more information contact us at http://www.fiberglasssupply.com

  • why do they call it hot coat?

  • @dwpny Because you put extra catalyst in the resin so that it kicks faster (hotter).

  • It is a 7'6" funboard shape

  • when you glass a board do you put two layers of fiberglass on at once or put one layer on let it dry then put another on?

  • @SURFAWOLF The two layers on the deck you do at the same time.

  • do you let the glassing stage dry before hotcoaing the board

  • @SURFAWOLF It just needs to be gelled up before you do the hot coat. It doesn't need to be fully cured.
