Here is an improvised Jacob's ladder constructed from a 12,000V 30ma 'Franceformer' neon sign transformer and 27K 2W wire-wound resistor. The electrodes are obviously made from wire coat hangers. The electrode wobble is caused by the spark itself, which is about 8cm long at maximum.
