Mar 21 '07 - Crime epidemic in South Africa

I had just returned the previous day after a dinner with a colleague and her spouse in downtown Johannesburg. I thought the glitter of the city was attractive. Today I saw a not so flattering report on JoBurg as a place over-run by foreign mafia - the same city which is to host the greatest show on earth the 2010 football worldcup. I realised that the previous day had been a close shave :)

More than a year ago, I uploaded this video. A month ago, I was a victim of crime in SA.

It is as if crime does not make the news anymore in SA. Insurance companies and private security firms are going to make a lot of money. The SA populace is there is be exploited and these companies will extract more than their pound of flesh!

Sad but true, crime pays well in SA and without the death penalty coming back, it is here to stay.
