For those of you who don't know, Dammaj is a heavy Metal band from the San Francisco Bay Area. They started playing before there was such a thing as Thrash and were the heaviest band around at that time. I used to go see them every time they played the Keystone Palo Alto and ended up opening quite a few shows for them. I owe them and their manager, Chuck Gouviea, big time for all the cool gigs Lethal Creed played. Watching the twin Flying V attack of Richie and Mick Gilbert was like seeing a clinic on how you should play/look/act onstage and I'm sure it was one of the things that made me want to play heavy music. A few months ago, when a good friend (and incredible guitarist) named, Alfred San Miguel, asked me if I wanted to jam a couple of Dammaj songs with him at a gig, I actually thought he was joking. Apparently, he wasn't. Alfred, Ron Cascinai and I were lucky enough to have Greg Hill and Steve Gilbert join us onstage to jam a couple of songs from their classic album, Mutiny. It's not perfect (Greg's vox get a bit drowned out), but it's Close Enough For Rock And Roll. . .
It was a privilege and an honor to play these songs. Thanks again to all the members of Dammaj.
Salute!
This video was made/mixed by Ronald Torres. I only edited it a bit and added the titles.

Wow, that was pretty damned good...When was that? Also, I wish I knew what club that was, Killer chops Steve....didn't know you could play metal on a 335. Good to see that Steve Gilbert is still playing. Greg too, even though I couldn't hear a word he sang, I wonder what ever happened to Bob Newkirk? I have great memories of those guys. They were always so helpful and generous with everything.

@twangmang Hey, thanks a lot, Kevin. It was 07/16/11 at the Quarternote (formerly The Hard Disk Cafe off Lawrence and Central in Sunnyvale). "....didn't know you could play metal on a 335" A few people said that same thing to me that night. As you know it's actually a Yamaha SA 2000. I didn't think you could shred on a 335, either, until I saw John Wedemeyer.
