She gives sociologists a bad name. Could she be more narrow-minded, more patronizing, more self-righteous? Has she seen Vegas outside of the strip? And where in the world do people not "watch others" for cues re: style? And who is SHE to declaim that people who appear to be and say that they're having fun are, in fact, not having fun? Or that spending money isn't fun? Seriously, her analysis is childish, not childlike, and it suffers grave lacunae ... I"m embarrassed to be in same field.

I will give Vegas this credit, it is opening the Smith center for the performing arts and I think that is good. it may shift alot of perceptions about that place. However, there is till alot of work to be done..
