Do you know if steal gil qualifies as a stolen item for the attack skill learned later? If so leveling up that skill to max damage would be made a lot faster no?

I thought the Dwarf who made excalabur in FF1 was named Cid. wasn't there an npc somewhere that said something like Cid is the greatest smith in the world?
