I seldom speak German, so I forget words and get a lot wrong. but I can still communicate and with a little effort can get it back to snuff, I think.

  • Steve, your German performance was WAY better than you think. It actually kept getting more fluent as you spoke.

Du bist ein hochkompetenter Polyglot - Meinen Respekt!

  • Thanks for the kind words.

  • I can write German better while I am sober, but my speaking ability vastly increases while I am drunk. No inhibitions about failing. haha.

I just stumbled across your channel, very cool!

  • wine is the great lubricant of life, and language. of course.

  • Genitiv, dativ, akkusativ, ja, ich mage das nicht auch, ich bin aus Brasilien, und ich finde schwer diesen termination. aBER, GLÜKLICH, ein tagen ich lerne dieses alles.

  • I have the same problems with German. I'm dutch and It is even more complicated because a word that is feminine in dutch is not feminine is german.

  • SEHR SYMPATISCHE AKCENT!!!SEHR SCHÖN ZU HÖREN!!

  • Du bist aber sehr gut ich bin scon 6 Jahre hier in Deutschland und trotzdem spreche ich nicht so gut wie du!Viele Grüße!

  • @kriszkrs and I am perfectly happy using it, reading, listening, and speaking with mistakes for everyone to see. Languages are for communication, first and foremost.

  • how well do universities teach languages???

I really want to learn german

and I will finish high school in six months so I need some tips

  • Your spoken German is very good. No doubt, the declinations are complex. Moreover, the four cases are obviously more difficult than in other languages.

Anyway, these are details. The main important thing for any foreigner is to understand approx. 90%. And if somebody has a sufficient basic vocabulary then it’s not a problem to ask for further information, for repeating and clarifying those expressions which weren’t understood. Being perfect is more an ideal circumstance than really possible.

  • Indeed sometimes it is easier to recognize some rarely used words by hearing than reminding them by oneself. By the point of view of a foreigner, I am aware that German isn’t easy. If anybody really wants to improve the ability of using German, then I guess that person needs to live in Switzerland/Austria/ Germany for a very long time. Utilizing the own skills and being surrounded of native speakers give a chance to get used to the language. Any school or course probably won’t provide that.

  • du hast dich gut ausgedrückt, konnte ich alles verstehen -)
