#6 Go Figure Geometry and Measurements pt2/2

The purpose of Go Figure? is to help students review for the mathematics section of the Grades 5-7 Ohio Academic Achievement Tests. The topics covered by the project address critical objectives found in the tests, but more importantly, they address those items that are frequently missed by students.
Carter did some outside research with old newspapers at his uncle's house. He discovered that the Etna High principal was the only one who did not disappear. Chris and Carter go to the principal's office and discover his notes and a map. The principal encoded his theories about the 1966 disappearances by using geometry and measurement concepts.

Math Content

Volume of a rectangle solid.
Circumference of a circle.
Perimeter.

The Program Guide extends the math content to include:
Surface area of a prism
Area of a cylinder
Area of a cone
Volume of a cylinder

The original "Go Figure" series and CD-ROM game was produced in 1997 by the WOUB Center for Public Media; (Athens, Ohio) and WVIZ/ideaStream, (Cleveland, Ohio) - funded by the Ohio Educational Telecommunications Network Commission. In 2006, the curriculum was updated, CD-ROM re-mastered, and website created (woub.org/gofigure) - produced by the WOUB Center for Public Media with partner agency eTSEO (Educational Technology for Southeastern Ohio) - funded by the eTech Ohio Commission.
