The Tenor is Sherrill Neilson. He was the original Tenor for the Imperials. After left the Statesmen, he joined Elvis Presley. Later he sang Tenor with the Masters 5.

I'm 72 and have been in gospel singing all my life. The Statesmen were so far ahead of their time. Their songs are ageless.

I have to agree. When I see any videos of the Statesmen, its clear that the standard they set, STILL hasn't been matched.
