After performing several of their tunes a capella Tuesday evening on the Minnesota State Capitol lawn (not by choice -- the state police refused to allow the band to take the stage for a surprise set closing the day's Ripple Effect Festival) members of Rage Against the Machine exited the field flanked by several bodyguards and hopped into 3 SUVs waiting nearby. In a bizarre twist, the band's convoy had to drive through a section of the Poor People's March, which had just turned the corner from a side street. The marchers had no idea who was in the 3 shiny Suburbans and (apparently assuming the passengers were either police or Republican officials) began flipping them off, shouting swears, and changing "Stop the war on the poor." Weird.
This is extremely ironic!! wow...
