    Who's bright idea was it to design the gate so that it opened away from the track? If the gate was designed so that it could only open toward the track, failure to properly secure it wouldn't result in a car being cut in half by the end of the wall.

    The reason dale died as determined by NASCAR is that the metal bracket that the belt slides through and that bolts to the chassis wasnt able to move freely. It caused the belt to pull harder on one side than the other, causing the tear. NASCAR and Simpson released some videos hosted by Benny Parsons about how to properly install a safety harness due to that crash. It's on here somewhere.

    this crash is from 2002. The first race in the CoT was in March of 2007!

    this aint the car of tomorrow they didn't even start running the car of tomorrow in busch/nationwide till last year.....this crash was in 2002
