@utley I hear that. I was going to say that earlier but ran out of room. Weren't Reagan and Bush Sr. trading guns for blow back in the day? And let's not forget people why the US was so convinced that Saddam had chemical weapons, because they had the sales receipt. The CIA used dirty tricks to help get Saddam in power because at the time he was the lesser of two evils. Then their deal must have gone sideways and the partners became enemies.

@PJMontoya I can justify it for you, and it doesnt involve metals. Im not in the know, but Im fairly certain that all that opium over there isnt going to just smoke itself.
-
@utley If that's true then there must be a secret reason for the government to justify the cost in life and finances don't you think? Or do you really think that the government really cares about freeing the Afghans? Do Americans lose sleep thinking "We must do all we can to help them"? Guerrilla warfare against people who don't about getting back home to play PS3 or watch NASCAR is bad news. Armies are way less effective when the enemy doesn't wear a uniform and there is no frontline.

@zanuha TSA is there for the yuppies and rich people to feel safe.I have to say the next fuel will be Hydrogen. They have salt water fueled/hydrogen vehicle engines sitting in th epatent office ready to go when they want it. The next Commodity will be sea water.

@PJMontoya Lithium is the most abundant metal on earth. There is no reason to stay in afghanistan because of lithium.
-
@azzazx6r It has been known for some time the there are massive untapped lithium reserves that can be mined in Afghanistan. Oil wont last forever and the next logical step is electric. Lithium polymer batteries are currently the most potent/cost effective way to store electrical energy. When (if) America tames Afghanistan you can bet the day after Dick Cheney's company Haliburton will move in to build the mining infrastructure. They made a fortune rebuilding Iraq after they bombed it.
Maybe he was trying to rocket jump
