The National Debutante Cotillion of Washington, D.C. is an annual dance and formal presentation of young ladies to society usually held at Thanksgiving.
The cotillion was founded in 1950 by Mary Stuart Montague Price, daughter of Captain Price, U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1917. The beneficiary is this event is the Children's National Medical Center.
A Cotillion Debutante is young lady from a representative family and is considered a new adult who is introduced to Washington, D.C. society at a formal presentation known as her "debut" or "coming out".
I'll ALWAYS want to be a debutante! I remember when the International Debutante Ball was shown on TV! Wow! Wish they'd show them again on TV! Torn jeans and rock music are NOT things to grow up on! Showing glamour builds hopes....and people begin to work for the /anerican Dream again! Every girl should be a debutante...or at least be able to dream of being one! (Sigh....! : )
