The Senate should reject Elena Kagan's Supreme Court nomination on a civil rights grounds, according to a Democratic former New Jersey assemblyman speaking passionately about her role.
Kagan, said Louis Manzo, Jr., should be rejected because of "her indefensible support of restrictions on Constitutional freedoms and her failures to defend due process." Manzo's statement was released by the bipartisan civil rights group Justice Integrity Project, which on June 28 opposed Kagan on similar grounds, citing its investigative findings. The project provides on its website, www.justice-integrity.org, additional details on prosecutorial misconduct at the Department of Justice, where Kagan currently works.
