93 year old Pittsburgh icon Porky Chedwick throws out the first pitch at PNC Park on 4/23/11. A very scary moment for everyone in attendance.........Porky went down and almost didn't get up. Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates

When I was there I thought the poor guy was dead! NO ONE HELPED HIM UP! It was a good game though, worth the rain delay for sure! =D

Porky has been a close friend of mine for more than 30 years and I can assure you that he's one tough son of a gun. You've got to admit, being 93 and mostly blind, on a wet field, he made a good pitch--with such vigor that it knocked him backwards! By the way, that's his wife, Jean, who walked him out. The first guy to run out after he fell was Josh Gilbert, a film maker who is working on a documentary of Porky's life.

I'm a fan from New Jersey. I was sitting behind the Pirates dugout when this unfortunate incident took place. It sure took a long time for someone to help him. I guess they were in shock.
