i was talking to my boyfriend about joy luck club. he never read it, but it was strange that he knew exactly what was gonna happen next everytime i told him of a small part from the book. he totally changed my point of view about the novel..he showed me a number of fallacies it has...plus he told me its a one sided story....now i believe reading it was a waste of time.one of the worst that uses ethos to attract readers.

I LOVE that book so much. The movie is well done, too. Especially since Amy Tan helped out on it. Have you read her autobiographical book, The Opposite of Fate? If you like Joy Luck, you probably will like it. It's so interesting and funny. Tan has had a really rich, eventful life and her mother is unforgettable!

the book is wonderful. U learn a lot about the Chinese Culture. The mothers and their Chinese American daughters. The movie was excellent. The book is interesting.
Rewatched this vid. Noting: i hav e not watched the movie yet and i seem to contradict myself in terms of ease of read. To clarify, I just mean that the second time/third etc one can get more subtleties and clarity . One can read the book the first time and maintain a relatively good knowledge of what is going on after a brief hiatus :) Cheerio, Amy
