@Sax4Him Gene Perla plays electric on Genesis... it's pretty heavily produced too
-
keiko's birthday march. such a beast tune :D
-
@AS5A I love that element of the LP, super swingin' drums with Hammer's melodic Moog/EP and accoustic bass----beautiful!
-
@Sax4Him Yeah, I call it Elvin's Fusion album
-
@FunkySkunk90 Absolutely, you nailed it. Zoltan!
-
@AS5A I NEVER get tired of On The Mountain! Still sounds modern today. Pretty sure it's the only time Elvin appears in an electric configuration.

@OLugs I don't think you're crazy. Joe is incredibly focused. Just listen to the way he develops those triad and suspended ideas. He had a great feel, a great sound, and a killer harmonic sense. Brecker doesn't mention Joe, but I know they knew each other and Joe had to be one of his influences...along with Trane and Joe Henderson.

@NormanSmith1960 The two Joes pretty much dominated after Coltrane and before Brecker matured.

if somebody has the LP "The Ultimate" Elvin Jones Trio with the same group as "Puttin it together" please let me know. I love this group who lasted one year and this record is only avaiable on a 8 CD box set "the complete blue note sessions".
Joe Farrell is one of the greatest underrated players EVER. And he was a fantastic flute player as well. Check out "Humpty Dumpty" on the Chick Corea side "The Mad Hatter". It's burnin' and Farrell tears it up. One of the great losses in jazz.

The Great Trio. with the master Joe Farrell!! I always thought that after Elvin left coltrane , this was his best group he ever had. I like the concept of sax Bass and Drums without the piano. Great clip from copenhagen. super performance Wauw.
