Controlling the opponent is not always determined by "position." Sometimes it's about controlling individual limbs in order to keep your opponent from affecting any kind of useful attack.

In this short clip, Tony demonstrates how having a man on your back is not always a problem -- provided you maintain control.

  • I got money on one of blue belts

  • @1lostinspace Do it. You'll get really REALLY good odds, is my guess.

  • ahahaha

  • @1lostinspace That's helpful.

No, really. It's responses like that that make the internet the font of knowledge it is today.

  • I would like to see Tony spar with a purple belt, do you have any video of that?

  • @1lostinspace Well, he did a video series with a black belt, Shawn Chitwood. Here's what he said about Tony:00 "[...] as a no-gi grappler, when I rolled with him, he was no joke. Of all the "no-gi" experts that I have been on the mat with, in disciplines from BJJ to Wrestling, he does not rank at the top but he isnt far from it either. Pretty amazing skill from a "fraud". I won't compare grapplers, but there are a few famous champions that would pay hell with Tony 10 years ago." -RMATA forum

  • "Certainly one Good match!

How Small Guys Beat GIANTS in BJJ

    MicroBJJ (dot) com"

  • @1lostinspace That would be nasty, for the purple belt. If all you've done is jiu-jitsu you'll get a big shock if you ever try catch.

  • I wish I could train this....but there are no schools in my country...dammit! I'd pick Catch over bjj anyday, I've learned a few tricks from watching tony and they work, people dont see it coming and then boom! I only wish I could train this everyday

  • Shin lock, most likely.
