Ok, so I think I sound stupid in this video but what the hell. James Hood flying and me in the front getting all excited about the rotor we'd just been through and the insane lift available to us. Raw unedited footage of glider G-DBVB, a K7/13 from 1955 GOING UP AT SPEED. Dartmoor gliding society, Brentor, West Devon.

  • What was a source of this wave? What was wind strenght and direction? And how high was this wave?

  • @WolfTheAviator There is a large lump of land called Dartmoor in the South East of England. This glidnig club is west of Dartmoor. In a Easterly wind there is a wave system which sets up over the club, climbs to 19,000 ft have been known. The wind strength was probably 20 kt at 1000 ft but increasing slowly as we went up.

  • I know where Brenton is, but at first glance on gogole map it didn't look like wave place. Good to know, maybe one day I will pop in, however it is quite far from be. Tell me more about launch and rotor, it's a pity I can't watchi it!

  • 'I didn't know the k13 had an engine!' hahahhahhahaha
