Sorry for the quality. This was recorded at The Rising Sun in Fulwood, Sheffield in August 2008. It's my attempt at James Booker's version of A Taste Of Honey with his Rachmaninov intro. This blew me away when I heard James do it , and I include it in my solo shows.

  • Speaking as an accomplished player of the New Orleans style myself, I have to admit that this is brilliant playing - the best I've seen outside of NO players themselves! You play from the heart - will keep an eye out in case you ever play in the West Country!

Many Thanks for your kind comments. Nice to know there is appreciators of New Orleans Piano out there in the UK. Were currently trying to get the full band down to Bristol....

  • Not bad - have you had much practise?

  • haha Yes Buddy , How did I know that was you!!

  • one of the most difficult and most beautiful pieces by Booker, very well done!

  • Many thanks. I'd only played it a few times when this was recorded so it's settled down now. It's always an exhilarating experience to play it and I'm always thinkin' of Booker when I do

  • Sounds excellent - honestly have never heard any version other than Herb Alpert's, but I enjoy how elaborately you played it. Bellissimo!

  • Just saw you at High Barn, complete wow! Your hands just became blurs at times, and your playing was sublime. This one was my favourite too.

  • Can anyone find an original James Booker version!? I love this piece but can't find it anywhere.

  • Stirring stuff indeed, great playing. I'm gonna check out James Booker
