This is a quick review on one of my favorite guns in my collection, the Beretta 96 chambered in .40 S&W. in this review i try not to repeat what every one else is saying but to put some of the myths about the 96' or even the 92' reliability and accuracy to rest.

  • Does Taurus make a similar or identical model? What do you think of that brand?

  • @JamesPliny Taurus does make one called the PT-96 that looks similar to the Beretta 96; but it's not the same gun. They bought a Beretta factory in Brasil but they had to change some details to avoid being hit by a lawsuit. I don't think Taurus is a bad brand, their company has been growing and they recently bought Rossi so they're doing something right; but a good rule of thumb is: you get what you pay for.

  • Man this gun is gorgeous. I know these run $600-$700 new a bit too much for me. What do you think these would go for used on average?

  • @Mike072385 That's a good question. I have never seen this gun (the fs ss version) used in any store, ever. i even looked on gun broker and there was nothing. if you find out let me know.

  • Beretta is reliable and is surely accurate, however, going for the cost of 500$ comparing a beretta or glock, go with glock.

  • @WoTVII Well I would agree and disagree. It really depends on what it's going to be used for and will it be the only gun you would ever buy. The Beretta has almost double the duty cycle of a Glock. Also in military testings when exposed to shock it held up better. Beretta is better looking, not that Glacks aren't. I have 2 Glocks and love them both. Glocks have more accessories and parts are more readily available. They are much simpler guns which is nice. Buy them both if you can.

  • If I did home invasions, this is what my worst case scenarios list would look like:

    The target....

    #3) owns a dog

    #2) is 6'8" tall

#1) is 6'8" tall and pointing a Beretta at me!!!!

  • Didn't know the mod -96 was a fan favorite I have one the thing I like most is the beretta laser grips ...how to post pics of it to show it of

  • good light , good calm voice , clear exposition. Tanks

  • My first and favorite gun. Easy to take apart and clean. Easy to use with great safety features. VERY reliable and very accurate. An interesting note- I was actually able to swap out both the slide and barrel with a family members 9MM Beretta M9. Even the 9MM magazine was able to fit and work in my 96 and my .40 magazine fit and worked in the M9 so you can buy a 9MM barrel if you want. Also for fast reloads if you rack the magazine hard enough when the slide is back it will automatically load.

  • I have had my Beretta 96M for around 7 years I bought mine used and it is made in Italy. I still have the original spring in mine and I have put at least 3000 rounds through mine. It is the best pistol I have ever owned and it works better then my H&K P-30 and my Sig Sauer 1911 target. The kicker is I bought it for only $325 back in 2005.

  • @Gspsx I feel the same way for my 1911 as you do for your beretta. Its my first handgun and its what I use to protect myself.
