This is a view of the startup of the Griffon (1960 HP model 57) engine of that restored Spitfire PR XIX (PR.19) owned by Christophe Jaquard.

This Spitfire participated the the BA115 Orange Air Show 2008.

Note: I've worked 7 years on this air base, long time ago, when Mirage F1 was "King" here.

---------------

  • A well deserved gift to Spitfire and Rolls-Royce Griffon/Merlin engine lovers. Thanks for the kudos. I'm very happy the sound pick up was good as I was standing in a very windy spot, plus the public address continuously broadcasting. You can hear too some "zap" sounds. They are generated by the radar beam of the ground control radar installed in the early 80s. I used to live on this base and watching TV was a nightmare: "zap and white dots" every 10".

  • 2400 Hp rather!

  • @tvnshack

i ALWAYS wondered what the "zap" was caused by...any airshow my dad videoed on the old VHS camcorder at our local RAN base was full off annoying "zaps". Cheer's for the clarification :)

  • Bien joué pour les images.. Merci
