Did the 'terrorists' (hijackers) accomplish their goal - at least the initial actions?

Being that we've been told repeatedly that we're in a 'war', what have we accomplished...?
Do we have anything to show for 11 years of 'war', save for thousands of American men - dead, disfigured or crippled for life, and Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's and Afghani's the same...?
Where is our 'booty' for these so-called 'wars'? Or are we simply 'nation building' because it's our 'duty'...?

Before we even proceed, a clarification is in order. A clarification that seems to be lost on both politicians, the media punditry and the dumbed-down masses, all.
'War' is about winning and losing. You are either a winner, or a loser in a war. Losers capitulate and surrender. Winners capture the spoils.
Rather than get bogged down in an argument that ends up going nowhere, how about (2) simple questions, distilled down so that they dumbfound popular logic on the 'war'? (continued...)
