  • @EvelcyclopS a little harsh. The vid is more instructional than a proper performance, and also captures the spirit of how Mark played this song live. I don't think MK ever considered himself much of a slide player, a shame really. I would like to hear more of his playing like this.

Thanks for your support. In fact the action on that guitar was high but should have been even higher for a proper slide performance, and I indeed made some mistakes. I must admit that talking in a foreign language in front of a camera while playing difficult licks that should sound totally relaxed stll is something I do not feel really comfortable with.

  • Is that a Thinline? it looks very nice

  • @PaceFalm

It is no Fender, just a copy, I did some work to make it sound better and look like Mark's

  • Thanks for another great lesson. You have an amazing collection of guitars. Thanks again

  • @eggybow Not all guitars in my videos are mine (wish they were, especially that Suhr ...)

  • i think everything is there, but the slide is unconvincing. having said that, i really couldnt do any better...

  • Great video. Any chance you could do a tutorial for "Next Time I'm In Town"? That is my favourite song from the Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins album. Thank you :)

  • @IngoRaven Thanks for response.

I'd normally go for heavy strings (10s or even more), however, as Water of Love is open A instead of the more common open G, the string tension is higher than normal anyway. On this video I have rather thin strings (09), but you can hear on some parts that they might be too thin and/or the action is not high enough, especially for the high e string, because there is some buzz.
