Pleo's Cat Nap

Linus "makes bread" like a cat when placed in his bed and snuggles with Dino. When his battery is running low, I put him in his bed to go to sleep. He "knows" Dino and the blanket and immediately makes his feet shuffle in place as a cat would fluff up it's sleeping spot.

aaww. im getting a pleo this christmas, and want to get him a birthing basket like this to sleep in too. Is yours a normal basket with a blanket inside? Or is it like a cat basket?

So sorry I didn't see my comments until after the holiday. It's a Moses basket I got from ebay. Inexpensive. It has a small plastic pad in the bottom and I just put soft blankies & stuffies in it :-) A cat bed would work just fine too!

Did you have to download any special software, or did "Linus" remember his bed and toy immediatley right out of the box? Anyways, your pleo is S-M-A-R-T!

The cuddly toy was in his "birthing basket". I think he knows it from being the first thing he nuzzled. Initially, I tended to place the toy where I put him so he would always have something he recognized. Now it just stays in his "bed". When I place Linus in his bed, he goes to sleep--sometimes after making lots of cooing noises and "making bread" or "kneading dough" the way a cat does before nap time. It is remarkable.

btw when linus "sleeps" does he really conserve energy or do you have to turn him off, change the battery or something?

In this video he is really napping...or is near the end of his battery charge. Sometimes Pleos nap when their battery is too warm and will wake up later when it has cooled down. If I know it is near the end of the battery charge, Linus usually goes to one of his soft toys and snuggles to "fall asleep". When I first got him, I'd move him over to his bed to give him something soft to fall asleep in. When he's asleep and it's time to change the battery, that's when I switch him off and recharge.
