@COULDNTthinkNAMEOFa When was it ever bad to have a career.....why not have both?? It's a blessing to have kids yes but it's also a blessing to be able to know that you can support yourself. I don't find anything wrong with having a career, and the fact that you are on your fourth kid in this type of economy is just leading to you or your husband having to work even more for money. I don't know how the word selfish even came out of your mouth.

@angerdux8 - Actually, a lot of western countries these days are under reproducing. The only reason why the United States hasn't yet reached population decline (we're still at a very low growth rate) is thanks to our influx of immigrants. Besides, reproduction and greater population spurs innovation, as we learn how to support ourselves on less resources. What's a bigger problem than having a lot of children is having just one but being abusive. 5 children each day in the US dies of child abuse.

@Lisahurst The earth is running out of sustainable resources. Over population is the main contributing factor to this problem. Sure, the Duggers are a great family and Michelle is one of the nicest persons I've observed. But..this family is going to drink the Earth dry, contribute greatly to carbon emissions--we have a responsibility to mother nature. Three kids should be the limit.

@celticthistle619 Doesn't Jim Bob, or whatever the husband's name is, seem threatening at times? He gets this look on his face. I'm not saying he's abusive-clearly not--but he is in charge. There are no options for his wife. And they are members of this cult religion that embraces the have children until you drop tenet. Their daughter in-law is from the same church/culture. It is so irresponsible. Population control would save a lot of natural resources.

@crismartin1982 In that interview, they mentioned God and their decision to put it in God's hands after the bad experiences following birth control. Everything on the show is a reflection of their religion. What reason could they possibly have to have a child every 18 months? Why do the women dress and wear their hair like the Mormon cults do?

@AliciaOmorose Birth control is not abortion and I'm sorry you're so ignorant about pregnancy and conception.
The older girls help out, they don't raise them. They are a good example of what a family should be.

@Halation2 The parents have been married for over twenty-five years, which is more than what a lot of people can say about their parents. Not only that, but how many working parents only see their kids for an hour or two a day? Because the kids are homeschooled, they spend a lot of quality time with their parents. And about "shoving religion down their throats": Don't most parents try to pass their ideology on to their kids? I don't agree with them on some things, but I like them.
