my E8600 is dead :(
I reached 4.8ghz, but it lasted only about 6 months. But i learned my lesson; even if i had 10ghz, there is always a bottleneck, like the HDD, the GPU etc. so it doesnt make sense to try to get the maximum out of your CPU.
Now iam running a i7-920 at 3.2ghz@1,025 vCore.

Hello friend, what use ((virtualizaton technology support)) in the processor does not have this difference? else it supports well in my motherboard Asus P5GC-MX/1333? and is also good for video card NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT GDDR3 (512 MB)

i got the e8600 stable at 4.4 1.36V =)

well if you not ocing just get the 8500, its 20 bucks more... 3.0 vs 3.16 ghz there, nothin huge. the main diff is 8400 has a 9 multiplier whereas 8500 has 9.5. sooo goo fishin

thinking of getting a new comp for casual gaming *NO OCing*. Not too worried about having Crysis in my gaming collection, more an MMO fan
4gb 800mhz kingston ram
9800gt 512mb or 1gb nvidia
should i go for a E8400 or a E8500 for this.
thinking of getting better cooling, nothing to expensive. Any thoughts !??
