The Pier

Overcast.
The rain's inevitable.
I sit here,
alone on the pier.
Seagulls perch,
above me on the pier.
I take a shot,
to pass the time.
The wind grows ever stronger,
while the homeless sleep the day away.

Who am I?
Alone and invisible.

People come and go,
hand in hand,
I'm not even here.

in my world the size of a pier.

Who am I but a simple bookworm,
soaking up words without a care.
