Wave Energy Device

http://waveenergy.nualgi.com/ It is a floating device tethered with chains to piles driven to ocean bottom. The wave action raises the heavy partially buoyant piston that drives the overhead crank...

Sorry, but this only works for one wave-hight; any wave smaller will not complete a turn of the crankshaft, any wave bigger will interrump the motion at the top of the turning cicle till the wave had passed, besides doing heavy force on the crankshaft.
Anybody had noticed that?

No, because it is a floating devise, so it sits on top of the water level.

Yes, untill it reaches the top of the crankshaft turn, then water have to pass over the float

In which case the whole device will rise.

Anyway, sea level does not change that much, in a hundred years, maybe.

The whole device won't rise if anchored, but there's a top point in the crankshaft turn, if there aren't waves big enough the crankshaft won't turn completely, if the wave is bigger the turning will momentanly stop. That happens in every wave; ignoring tides, etc...
If you not understand yet, just build one of those with household materials and you will see clearly the many problems

The rotating of the crankshaft is only a dramatic demonstration of the capture of the mechanical energy. We have progressed far beyond. One side linear movement of a lever which can capture any height of the wave and fluctuating wave heights have been developed and this linear motion is converted into one sided rotary motion using mechanics.

Can you give more details? This is very intriguing.

if it sits on top of the water the float will just move with the rest of the device and the crank wont turn.

At the equater you got same size waves. But if you go north or south the waves are changing attitute.
