@ttoomuch Yes, buoy type generators are not new, but they use pneumatics or hydraulics, not a crackshaft. My point was (more than 12 months ago) with the crackshaft

put a mini one in a box and use earth energy and heat from sun to power small h2o pump to create standing wave mini pool and perpetually drive this device. who needs power companies

The simple solution to this, is to remove the crankshaft, and use a hydraulic piston that drives a generator. That way, you can just make a very long piston, and make sure it doesn't bottom out.
Kinda like the Wave Star project does.

They intend to make a power 500KWH station, that should be quite a sight. :)

I love seeing designs like this,the only problem I really have is with one unit no one ever talks about what the projected power output is on one of these units.farming waves is a great idea and frees up land mass for building and farm lands.A vertical tower of these under water would be just as great as if they did more vertical farming here on land aka fish farming /agricultural.look up farm raised abalone,really interesting just needs to be scaled up vertically for more production.

your back to front on this matter, anchor the piston to the sea bed, and have the floating buoyant end move, the way you have it is classroom, but at sea if you know the sea, you wont find it quite so forgiving guys, and your 3 anchors points will REQ continual adjustment for tidal and wave ext reams, when you need only 1.

@vipondiu YES, I noticed that as well. the machine is stationary, and the sea level rises and falls. There's a design that is floated on the surface, so no matter, high seas, or calm, the wave action always actuates a unidirectional cam that powers and collects energy.
Sorry, but this only works for one wave-hight; any wave smaller will not complete a turn of the crankshaft, any wave bigger will interrump the motion at the top of the turning cicle till the wave had passed, besides doing heavy force on the crankshaft.
Anybody had noticed that?

that's well and good but how do you intend to keep the amplitude of the wave even with the piston full stroke? or how do you keep the device at the rest position of the waves?
