EVERY 2 MINUTES....that's how long it will be before another life has been taken due to a drunk driver.
Vehicular homicide due to alcohol comsumption is the leading cause of death for motorists.
Let's face it people....drunk driving is no accident.
Case in point...don't drink and drive.
If you do drink...THINK!!! Call a cab, take the bus and train or walk if you have to...just don't drink and drive.
Someone's life is counting on it.

Basically setting laws as to when, where and how much people can drink just raises a challenge. Making such laws raises the attitude of "who's going to stop me?" instead of the rarely cultivated attitude of "why do I really want to drink so much anyway?"... That "Why" goes out the window as soon as reasons like "we're old enough" or "we're sure not to get caught" arise.

I think that driving drunk is a uniquely American epidemic. Not to say it doesn't happen in other countries, but it seems like much less of an issue in places with less regulatory laws. It seems to me that mandating a drinking age turns it into a much bigger deal than need be, which urges people to drink more, which breeds the spirit of competition as to who can drink the most... and everyone gets a bit dumber with every drink past number 3.
