  • Thanks it did help.

  • @TheNanoreefguy Your welcome.

  • new york steelo i am new to the hobby and what if during the cycle process the water in the tank evaporates because i have a 14g biocube and it evaropartes fast and then the pump in the back makes noise and spitts bubbles so is it ok to add water to the tank during the cycle process. Because i know doing a water change can interupt the cycle process.

  • @TheNanoreefguy Simply add RO/DI or Distilled water to top off the system. Do not add saltwater or your salinity will rise to dangerous levels. When ever evaporation occurs, only water evaporates leaving the salt behind, and so this is why only freshwater is needed to keep the salinity stable and where it needs to be. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Hey newyorksteelo i have a couple of questions about my tank. My tank is growing diatoms on the sand and is almost fully cycled. I was wondering when it would be safe to make a water change and if it is safe to place my filter in the tank. I also noticed little specks of green colonies on my live sand and was wondering if that's normal.

  • @hmongboy337 Please listen closely to the commentary on this video and and read the annotations as well. The questions you are asking are already addressed in this very video. You should run all filtration in your tank since day one. Do not perform a water change until the cycle is complete. Good luck.

  • @methodman33751 Hmm, probably Power Compacts or T5's. Please visit my video titled "Reef Aquarium Lighting" to learn more about what you would need in terms of watts per gallons for these fixtures. Good luck.

  • Im tryn to start a 75 gallon reef tank what is the best affordable light to use?

  • @Tracy2205 Sounds like the tank may have cycled. I say "may" because the only way to know for sure is if you have been testing since day one which is what you are supposed to do. Seeing the rise and fall of Ammonia and Nitrite is the way to be absolutely sure the tank cycled. If it did, its ready fro animals. Good luck and thanks for the feedback.

  • Hey great video good useful info. I bought live rick with coraline algea on it already its been a week my ammonia and nitrites are 0 and my nitrates are 10ppm jus wanna now is this normal in your opinion. i'm tryin to do this proper so i plan to let it sit for atleast a month before i add any animals to it.
