  • i'm glad someone put this video up, i want to hear more of the lady with the BEAUTIFUL voice! does anyone know if she's an artist or not?

  • I honestly dont know who sings the female part. It may or may not be the woman you see in the video. I only know the male is Johnny Dowd.

  • I adore Johnny Dowd. Like okra, he's definitely an acquired taste.

He's like an odd cross between Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. Probably not as good as either when compared against the strength of Cash or Dylan in their respective genres, but standing alone, Dowd is curiously compelling.

My two cents anyway. Keep 'em coming Mr. Dowd.

  • I understand what you, but it's because of the feeling he puts in his voice. in combination with his dark lyrics it just fits perfectly

  • @jayseanNO9 The lady is Maggie Brown, originally from Texas but now lives in lousiana. She recorded one cd,which is a very good one.

  • @jayseanNO9 Sounds like Bonnie Raitt

  • I believe it is Maggie Brown, she had an album out a few years ago. I bought it on the strength of this - great album. Someone covers her song fourty dollars, you can find it on youtube

  • Man oh man, if I was in a barber shop with Johnny Dowd the last thing I would do is ignore him like all the dopes in this clip. People are strange........

  • @Chorltonian That is definitely NOT Cat Power. The female vocalist on this track is Maggie Brown.

  • This song is on Johnny's Wrong side of Memphis. The second song on that album is Papa, Oh, Papa". Its so twisted and good. The whole album is worth checking out in fact.

  • man , this song cracks me up

    great female vocalist

  • @dirtearth Its Cat Power my friends. She isn't in the vid, but Cat Power singing it is

  • @IStoleYourPotatoes I know you may have been replying to someone else but I put docudrama in the description. There are things that are set up for sure [this scene for instance] and the part with Harry Crew and the part with the guy from 16 Horsepower in the woods. But I think some of the stuff is legitimate 'documentary' like in the restaurant and the jail probably.

  • @IStoleYourPotatoes Hi, yesterday I saw and heard Johnny play with his band. They were awesome and so was Stuurbaard Bakkebaard. I had a chance to ask Kim if she was the woman singing in this vid. She denied, so I put my chips on Maggie Brown. I don't care too much for potatoes anyway, be my guest.
