  • can we use 9V of cell?

it's difficult for us to find a power supply which supplies 150V.

  • @RonKei26 Im not sure, I didnt even know this would work when I tried it, It could work just may take long time

  • Do you really need 150 volts?

  • @bobbysam232 Im thinking the more power the faster it is plated

  • sulfiric acid smells so bad

  • sulfuric acid has no smell when it pure

  • A lower voltage would most likely work better here - usually 1.5VDC is all that is required and results in a more even coat.

  • What isn't legal these days

  • What did I just watch.

  • this is illegal you know.

  • That blue copper solution has to be copper sulfate, not sulfide

  • @tmafkap Thanks for the honor!

  • @nickbhalo I declare you the Chuck Norris of galvanisation!

  • kinda surprised you wore golves for just a couple drops of h2so4. I did the oposite and used current to make the solution of cuso4 from just a cu electrode and sulphuric acid in a jar and hook up the old copmuter power suppy and shazam, it is a time consuming mess of crystilation and acid. I used WAY more h2so4. prob close to a litre. I got some cuso4 to mess around with and plate stuff. and it only cost me time and a few cents in electricity. and when ya boil down you get yours acid back :)

  • @RonKei26 yes you can. all you need is more then (i think) 5 volts. 6 if not. but yes, it will work. the current is really what increases the rate of reaction. Ive done similar experiments what 12v, 50 amps, and it took a couple minutes. but then ive also tried 50,000v at 10ma. though i only had it in for a few seconds because i didnt wanna burn out my HV power supply, it was too slow for any visible reaction to occur.

  • @Basco36 you can use 3 volts. depends on your solution and amps. volts arnt the issue with electro plating. i plan to copper plate my shotgun soon :)

  • Whats the molarity of the sulfuric acid? And is there a simpiler way to do this without using electrolysis?
