There will be a tribute to Legendary Rapper Willie D of the Geto Boys on Thursday, June 18, 2009 @ Bar-Rio, 6400 Richmond Ave., Houston, Texas, 77057. The event is being sponsored by SMASH THE MIC and will include a Hip-Hop talent showcase of young upcoming artists. The event will also feature MTVs Bad Boy Riff Raff of Gs to Gents and Tiniecia from MTVs Paris Hilton BFF. Music producers, industry executives, and radio/media personalities, and various celebrities will be in attendance.

Smash The Mic founder Vonnie Dones says, We are holding this event to honor Willie D as a Hip-Hop pioneer and to celebrate his contributions. In light of the recent legal events hes going through, as a city we are supporting him as the man that put Houston on the map musically and has always given back to the community,

@nallen431 Fraud! Willie D's not telling the entire story. According to reports (which is why he continued to do what he was doing), he was selling merchandise and never sending the product. The international being burned thing may be somewhat true, but it most likely had nothing to do with his situation. He's making it seem like he hustled those that hustled him. He was selling products that didn't exist, and blame the lost item on the postal service. Daz Dilinger was doing similar.
