Angkor Wat (Part 3) Phnom Kulen Khmer Holy site

Phnom Kulen is located in Cambodia. It is considered a sacred hilltop and lies within 30 km of the iconic Cambodian temple of Angkor Wat. Phnom Kulen is both the hilltop and the national park that is located in the area. It is considered to be the center from which the Khmer Empire originated, the popular tourist destination Siem Reap is located 48 km from the area. In 802 A.D. King Jayavarma II made the proclamation of independence from the Javan kingdom, this fact is of an important religious significance to the Buddhists and Hindus alike.

The waters at Phnom Kulen hold a sacred significance to Hindus. 5 cm below the surface of the water one can find over a 1000 minature carvings all of which have been etched from the sandstone riverbed that lies beneath. King Jayavarman II used to bathe in this river; he ordered the river to be diverted in order that the sandstone carvings could be made possible. The sandstone carvings depict Hindu gods. There is the Hindu god Vishnu with his serpent Ananta and there is Lakshmi at the feet of Vishnu. The god Brahma is also depicted in the carvings. At the end of the river there is a pool and a waterfall.

wow that jsut blows my mind away how they built those temples... and the thing is hwo the fuck did they figure out all those techniques??? how the hell did they no to grind sand stone on sand stone to make perfect edged blocks?? i never would have thought of that stuff

Angkor and all those tempels are built thousends of years ago by ancient civilizations. Example: Why the Mayas built something similar in the jungle as well and later they abandoned it, The same is happened in angkor, they disappeared, Coincidence?
