Nearly all of these genetic diseases are sufficiently understood that we OUGHT to be able to cure them at this point. The reason we haven't is because we cannot do the computations because these disease systems are too complex for orthodox approaches to work. I believe I have an answer! @FutureScience2012 Thank you! I'm an avowed atheist, but have always wondered how to react to the news of these type of situations. I know that stating my lack of religious beliefs to someone who has lost a loved one is distasteful, so I just hope for the best and that the doctors, nurses, caregivers, siblings, etc can help the person through their struggles.
