This is footage that I taped from inside the crowd on June 19th, 2007; the Whistle Blowing World Record. You may or may not have seen the other videos of it, but this really gives you the "feel" of that day.
It's kinda long, so you can skip through the middle-ish part if you really want, but be sure to watch the introduction and the last two minutes.
=== What it's all about ===
My school set the Guinness World Record for the most whistles blown simultaneously. We had to do it by TONS of protocol, like blowing for 10 seconds straight, no gaps. If you have any questions about it, drop me a message and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.
=== Other tidbits ===
Mr. Levine (the coordinator / guy with the megaphone) came up with this idea many years ago, and has been waiting for approval from Guinness for about three and a half years. He finally got approval in April or May (2007) and proceeded to plan it out for the last day of school. The whistles were kinda cruddy (1,440 of them for $60...), but it was still fun. There were a bunch of media people there. There was WBZ radio, WBZ-TV (sometimes better known as channel 4), the Lowell Sun, the Littleton Independent, and the local access channel, channel 8. That's its name. It doesn't have any other name. Just "channel 8".
=== Notes ===
According to Mr. Levine, the crows was actually 721 people (students, teachers, parents, etc.), and there were 1,440 whistles.
The plan is that we will be defending this record, year after year. Just re-setting it. We're going to add another school each year (this was the middle and second elementary school), and when we run out, we're gonna start using citizens. Then we're gonna start borrowing people from neighboring towns.
