Because,right now he is just guarding the sword..
Once you get his health down a bit you may take SoulBrant...
Then he goes hostile if you get his health down to 50%

i failed to kill him the first time , now he turned hostile and attacks me everytime i approach , gonna try this strategy .. hope it works! :)
