Father's Fields is a country song that evokes the struggles and heartbreak of the present generation breaking away from the family traditions and hardships of farm life. The song has a story within the story, closing with a message of hope overshadowing our regrets.

The original idea is Dan's, from memories of his own childhood growing up in what was then a rural part of New Jersey, the "Garden State". This song is one of Dan's personal favorites.

The original lyrics and music were written in 1995 by Al Curving and Dan Laurie, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office in 1998 as part of the album Slices of Life in Story N Song Vol.3, and revised in 2009 to this version.
