  • that tube screamer sounds horrid man, the ibanez tube screamer sounds great with a distortion pedal, but on their own or with re-verb they sound horrible, every musician I know says the same thing

  • @UKToneKing

The TubeScreamer (used on it's own) is the most used and cloned pedal in history. It is a distorion-overdrive pedal. Eric Johnson, Trey Anastasio, Billie Joe Armstrong, Kirk Hammett, John Mayer and the late SRV & Ron Asheton use TubeScreamers all by themselves. You're not making a lot of sense to me.

    It's reverb. Not re-verb.

I like the reverb in the Fender amp better than the Danelectro unit but the Dano unit is nice. The Dano has springs where digital pedals don't.

  • @studio1087 i personally think that the tube screamer is a little higher in the treble than the other OD pedals I've used. however, i personally feel the sound has a purpose that sounds great combined with larger amplifiers. i use a fender champ so i can't really deal with all the treble, to each his own. i think the reverb pedal sounds better than the amp's reverb. thanks for the upload.

I'm listening to the video on my work laptop.......it does sound a bit harsh. I should have used my Bad Monkey. Ever play a Digitech Bad Monkey? They're affordable ($49 USD) and they have seperate bass & treble knobs. You dial dial up the bass while leaving everything else alone. Great little pedal for adding fat to the bottom.

Hind sight is always 20/20! Should have used the Monkey. Monkey tone!

  • Mine was $60 craigslist purchase. I'm very glad that I bought it,

  • the tube screamer was used as a boost only by srv. also by mayer.. they are used to push an already cranked tube amp, and they work good for that. the overdrive part of it is pretty pedestrian. loss of low end and a really bad midhump. a lot of pedals have been based on the ts, (not really cloning) but they usually fix the problems the ts has. like lovepedal, fulltone and a slew of other makers. the poster was right about the ts sounding pretty bad on its own.

  • Kick that thing!!

  • @studio1087 i have never played a bad monkey, although i know people who do. they swear by it much like i swear by my Fender Champ and Boss BD-2 set a little darker so i get rid of some treble and honky midrange. but the people who use a bad monkey are like "i can plug my bad monkey into any amp and get the same sound as i do when i'm in my room with my amp.. i'm like no, not through a 5 watt tube amp. thanks again for the upload. i think i settled on the Tonebug reverb though, more versatility

  • @studio1087 Whaaa? that wee pedal actually has springs?!?! AWESOME...

  • just bought one for 60€. Sounds great, i'm running it in front of a 1984 Marshall solid state combo, together with a Boss 1988 Space Dimension chorus......what a sound!!!!!!!!!!!! Highly recommended.
