Zimbabwe farmers flee abroad - 26 Jul 08

The ongoing political situation in Zimbabwe has forced white farmers to leave the country and take advantage of the opportunities available in Nigeria.

The Nigerian government has asked Zimbabwe's farmers to help boost commercial farming in Nigeria.

Zimbabweans are teaching their skills to the local community, because, one farmer argued, he would rather earn foreign currency in Nigeria than starve back home.

Al Jazeera's Haru Mutasa reports.

doobade, dude if you were a banker you would stick to banking just as a farmer to farming, most white farmers in zimbabwe were educated farmers, i have a bachelors in agriculture

now the people on those farms have no clue just because you a minister or banker it doesnt mean you know agriculture

hell most educated blacks i knew in zim hated farming they prefered the city and commerce and being doctors etc

mugabe has turned commercial agriculture into a shambles and thats fact

@Znaika1 There were high levels of social developments with "modern" mentality as well. Significantly high. But these were forced to join other lower levels as you say and become "countries". People with totally disjointed ideals, beliefs, governments, philosophies, languages. In the world over "Africa" has had to adapt the most unnaturally. India, China, England, France these civilisations have been going - uninterrupted - for centuries. It will certainly take time to make this transistion.

India was and still is india, it was not formed or created by foreigners, same goes for china. The magnitude of an effect these colonial decisions had on Africa is astonishing. It is indeed now up to us to move past that and be better! Of course it will not be easy!
