http://www.ted.com Bill Gates hopes to solve some of the world's biggest problems using a new kind of philanthropy. In a passionate and, yes, funny 18 minutes, he asks us to consider two big questions and how we might answer them.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes -- including speakers such as Jill Bolte Taylor, Sir Ken Robinson, Hans Rosling, Al Gore and Arthur Benjamin. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, politics and the arts. Watch the Top 10 TEDTalks on TED.com, at

  • @happykillfreak me too, but I'm cross using Linux/Win/UNIX so I don't really care about stupid comparison between Linux and Win.

Gates is a remarkable man, we should learn a lot from him.

  • why are some people so critical of him?

  • @prathik728 because of how often his voice cracks.

  • @prathik728 Because he wants to kill people.

  • poor that little guy..

  • @prathik728 . . because, if I remember and got it right, he callously, but without consequences, stole ideas from his co-inventors thus engendering the whole "dog eat dog" mentality than characterizes corporations today. He modeled the greedy, corrupt and treacherous business practices that have unbalanced U.S. and world economics. And he only became philanthropic after threats of anti-monopoly prosecution. I hope he is as good as he appears, but have doubts. Some of his ideas seem sinister.

  • He's making a difference with his money. That's a good thing

  • i dont mind bill gates he lives near me and we allways talk in the cafe :")

  • @974titoun You probably don't need it anymore, but you can find all the TED videos with subtitles in over 30 languages (usually) on ted.com (this one specifically is at ted.com/talks/lang/en/bill_gates_unplugged.html).

  • I used to change the world like him, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • Good video
