I do Jidokwan TKD. My question is why do so many TKD fighters today keep their hand down it leaves their head wide open.

TKD incorporates several hand techniques as well as kicking, it just seems very dangerous to me to leave your head completely exposed.

what people have to realize is that most people do tkd for fun, not for self defense. However, a high degree black belt in any martial art could beat the shit out of some dumb ass street fighter

@fixedtrix1 and with what kind of martial arts experience are you saying that? From my 5 years with the ATA I at least learned how to block, dodge and counter, not rocket science trash talker.

fifaplayer10 tae kwon do was developed by the south Korean military, so it is a fighting style, and it emphasises kicking and speed so that would explain why they don't have their hands up.
