Just seeing this a year later... I would not trust any cheap fuse so much that I would have it next to my face even if only for a second or two. :) Now the cannon from this last year on a tripod shooting fire crackers with me away from the fuse, ... The first one looks so dangerous. Your hand is in shot track. What about hand cover?

No cover needed, the slingshot is safe. The ball shoots a good inch over the hand. But the low fork allows you to handle very strong bands, very ergonomic.
