@pmknight12 Thanks! Yeah, it's weird but it's not THAT weird. Now, Rachel Pollack's (writer after Grant) stuff was weird for the sake of being weird. Those comics I hard a hard time rolling with.

Cool review! I may have 2 rethink my thoughts on picking up Morrison's run.

@agent42q Cool. When you do, let me know what you think. The earlier stuff is definitely the most accessible.

Well I learned a lot about Doom Patrol, especially since I knew next to nothing about 'em going into this video.
I'll have to look for that trade soon.

this is one of those, "you may not be into it but if your a series comic fan, you must read this for the sake to know what everybody else is talking about". and thats how i feel. i know i probably wont like this book but i must read it to be in on the conversations with fellow fans. thank you for giving me your take on it, although you kinda sounded not as estatic about the book or eagered to recommeneded it. (not saying you have to be or i expect you to be).

@juggernaut44 I like it, but I realized it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

This is my favorite long-form comic ever. At its heart is one of the greatest love stories ever written, and the final trade (#58-63) is one of the most relentlessly positive, life-affirming works ever put to ink.
I think you bring up a good point, that the Doom Patrol isnt about "weirdness for weirdness' sake." The strength of these stories is that they're about real emotions, about loneliness and family, love and friendship. Yeah, we're all screw-ups, but we can all be heroes too, together =)

@Nasbin Thanks for commenting! I think it was one of the gems of the 90's!

It's nice to know that this comic isn't as trippy as I've always thought.
Thanks for the overview on the team. I've only read some of the Giffen run, and I was quite indifferent to the whole thing.

@MrSuperKello I haven't read the Giffen run. I'm curious about about his take, but I didn't get it because of budget reasons. Maybe I will later.
