Hey,

This is me improvising with my new guitar. It's a Mexican Fender Standard Stratocaster from 1995 that I heavily modified. It now has a recessed Gotoh Floyd Rose, Dimarzio Paf Pro and Cruiser pickups, chrome telecaster knobs, Schaller Strap Locks etc. I'll make a different video to demonstrate this guitar.

Thanks to Miika153 for the backing track which can be found on his youtube profile. It's called "80's Power Ballad Backing Track in Em/Bm".

I used the following gear to make this video:
- Fender Stratocaster
- Tascam US-122L USB Audio Interface
- Guitar Rig 4 ("80s Solo" preset with some modifications)
- Cubase 5
- Sony XR-500V Full HD camera

I hope you enjoy my video ;)

Daan.

  • so why does it have a three way toggle switch AND a 5 way switch?

  • @Kreason95

Those are actually both 3-way switches. The lever switch lets you choose between the the neck and bridge pickups. The toggle can add the middle pickup when in the middle position. When in the up position, only the middle pickup is used.

I already changed to a different wiring where I'm able to split pickups as well.

  • I have question. Is it worth replacing any tremolo with Gotoh wnd where have you bought it? Cheers, mazingguitar.

  • @mazingguitar

Well, for your standard Fender tremolos, you might have to make changes to the body of the guitar like I did. However, the Gotoh Floyd Roses are designed to fit flat on a Fender body. You won't be able to pull up then though. You'll have to do routing on the body to do that. It's up to you if that's worth it.

If you only use your trem for vibrato, I don't think you need a floyd.

I bought this one from Ebay out of the UK.

  • hey man, good vid!!! what tipe of scale do you use?

  • @blhaataaa

I mainly use E minor for the verses, and B minor for the chorus.
