  • I am Swedish and is totally against the removal of any of the special characters in any Nordic language !!! Who wants a regular boring 26-Character English alphabet anyway ????

It is awesome that that you Icelanders have the ancient characters Eth (ð) and Thorn (þ) still left!! They are part of your language and culture and should so ever be!!!

  • what?

  • @lskoog ert þú jafnvel íslensku? þú virðist eins og þú ert ekki

  • Terrible! As for English, I would add new letters and reassign others: add /\ for 'uh', thorn and edh written as t and d with an extra bar, the IPA symbol for the 'ng' sound, and c and j reassigned to 'sh' and 'zh' which would make ch=tc and j=dj.

Unmarked vowels would return to their original Latin sounds, and the 'short' versions written with an accent grave (`) and sound like bat, bet, bit, bought and book. Finally, the whole alphabet reordered to show phonetic relationships.

  • Why would you want to get rid of the Icelandic alphabet?

If anything, I think English should re-adopt the thorn. Þat would be a bit weird; however, þings could turn out well, and maybe all English people will start using þe þorn.

  • @lskoog lol

  • @lskoog yeah and it sucks real hard going the wrong direction to inferiour precision. not the way to go

  • that's just the english alphabet

  • This is one of the most pathetic things I´ve ever seen on youtube.
