Alexandre Anistratov plays Scottish smallpipes in D (slip jig & reel). This smallpipes set made of blackwood with boxwood mounts & bronze ferrules in Alexandre`s own workshop in Moscow, Russia (Pipesland.com.)
@lastzamwesell no difference but there are two diiferent realed smallpipes the Scottish smallpipes with an open chanter here that has similar fingering to the highland bagpipes and the closed chantered Northumbrian smallpipes. Both beautiful and developed in the same anglo-scottish borders one on both sides.
Hey man, I am just learning how all this works, but I am in a rock band, we want to have a pipe intro... I know there is a lot of confusion about the Key of pipes.... but could you tell me some examples of pipes with a drone in D (clearly these smallpipes are)
I play the Highland Bagpipe and am eager to buy a set of Smallpipes in D, i really like the higher tone of D; what drone and chanter set up are you running?
I am thinking of getting a set of McCallum Smallpipes in D, my Bagpipes are McCallum and ive had no trouble with them at all.
nice looking and nice sounding smallpipes! and very well played too.
