Today (February 13) is Judy's birthday. So what better time to upload her version of Syd Barrett's immortal classic.Released in February 2006, just a few months before Syd's death.I think he would have approved of her vocals which, like his own,are very much part of that English Tradition of singing in a distinct, 'elocuted' way rather than in the American style.
Judy was Fairport Convention's original female vocalist before she went on to Trader Horne.
Since the Millenium she has enjoyed a renaissance of creativity and recorded four albums. This is from 'Spindle' on the Talking Elephants label.
Simon House of High Tide and Hawkwind fame supports Judy in this song.

Thank you for your feedback and response. Syd's version isn't easy to follow but Judy does add something to it. :-)

Definately an interesting version. Although I prefer the original (obviously) and Bowie's version I do admire this one too as it has significantly different elements to it, like all good covers should.

You make an excellent point about covers needing to be different. Syd's Emily IS such a classic that one can understand some on this thread finding it hard to accept Judy's version. Even Roger Waters, had he recorded a version, would have had a mixed response. As you say, an interesting version by Judy ... :-)
